MetroSofa Launches Green Furniture Website
Miami, FL (PRWEB) January 9, 2008 -- MetroSofa, owned by modern shed green builder, MetroShed, has launched a new green furniture website. MetroSofa.com offers unique one-off custom made upholstered sofas and chairs specifically made with recycled, reclaimed or antique sofa and chair frames.
MetroSofa was conceived by modern home manufacturer, MetroShed, the leader of American modern pre-fab outbuildings and garden sheds. Being a 'green' producer since 1995, MetroShed is continuing its green manufacturing processes with the Metro Sofas. 'MetroSofa was born out of frustration in the furniture market?trying to find a modern, classic but unique piece of furniture is a challenge - especially to find something made with the environment in mind. When I went looking for a chair for my own home, I was disappointed that you feel like you've seen everything before and even when I did find something manufactured in a 'green' way it was bland and lacked modern style', stated David Ballinger, founder of MetroShed.
MetroSofa armchairs, parlor chairs, occasional chairs, French Louis chairs, chaise loungers, couches, loveseats and sofas are completely stripped and re-built to 'new again' condition. The 'donor' recycled sofas and chairs are injected with new life and completely overhauled to create modern antique pieces for generations of use. MetroSofa uses only the finest materials from the fabrics to the cushioning to provide the customer with style and comfort.
Enlisting a new designer, Jennifer Stout, MetroSofa went from idea to reality. Ballinger continued, 'Jennifer brings a modern designer 'hotel lobby' look to old pieces of furniture that might have ended up in a landfill - she blends old and new, antique and modern to bring artistic vibrant and minimalist furniture pieces to market?they are part shabby chic and part retro modern - there's nothing out there like it - where else can you find a black, white and blue antique sofa or a silver framed red and gray couch - you can't, we've looked!'
Fabrics for the MetroSofa furniture pieces are mostly remnant material - many commercial grade fabrics are used to make the most use of existing materials and further add to our low impact green furniture manufacturing. These forgotten off-cuts from larger jobs are used with other patterns, stripes, plaids, checks, solid colors or fabrics to create a hotel lobby chair, waiting room seating or commercial grade office contract furniture.
The Metro Sofa.com website also gives interior designers a new way of finding and customizing eco-friendly furniture. MetroSofa works directly with Interior Designers from west coast to east coast (Los Angeles, CA to New York, NY) to bring their own design ideas to life in the form of unique custom made furniture for their clients.
