New Organization for Minorities in Design Industries Launches Website and Scholarship Competition

(PRWEB) October 11, 2007 -- The month of October marks the emergence of HUES: Designers of Color (http://www.designersofcolor.org), a national organization committed to making an impact on creative design industries by providing a supportive and resourceful online community and increased opportunities and demand for designers of color.

The organization's name HUES: Designers of Color (HDOC) is significant to its mission of bringing together Fashion Design, Graphic Design, and Interior Design Professionals and Students of color: peoples of underrepresented shades and hues, in creative industries that are extremely diverse, yet lack a common environment for minorities to collaborate, be seen, network, and grow.

HDOC strives to provide a plethora of services to its members: African American, Black, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, Native Alaskan and other design professionals and students, in 2008. The services will include portfolio listings, job listings, scholarship listings, internship listings, training listings, newsletter, magazine, member PR, original content, networking, member forums, and more.

The website, in its current developmental stage is accepting "Beta" membership applications, and features outside scholarship links, a design blog and e-newsletter, the opportunity for Beta members to upload their design portfolios, and a "Blogger Scholarship" competition where college design majors of color can submit their blogs to compete for book scholarships. The common consensus from the site's visitor poll: "It's about time!"
